At a Piano Recital

Young pianist, small breasts

A totally infertile image

Useless Hershey Kisses

Her eyes dart up from shaking fingers

to a blotted page

like a speeder to an oncoming deer

Who’s afraid of their music?

I lean back to dodge sour notes

and catch the smell of fouled underwear

Faint discharge in the air

I will shrink & shiver in this vast, cold room;

curl up in the piano

and reverberate forever
